We are proud to announce Tara Crawford as our April Volunteer of the Month at DNAngels!
Taraβs journey to becoming one of our Search Angels is rooted in a lifelong passion for history, family, and uncovering the stories hidden within our DNA. Born and raised in Southern California, Tara has spent much of her life pursuing genealogical adventuresβfrom visiting pioneer cemeteries to documenting family trees for friends and loved ones. Her deep interest in genetic genealogy was sparked in 2015 when she took a DNA test to solve a mystery in her own family, igniting what she lovingly calls her “DNA obsession.”
In 2021, Tara completed the prestigious Genealogical Principles Program at Boston University, and over the last decade, she has attended countless genetic genealogy seminars and educational events, constantly sharpening her skills to better serve others. Outside of her work with DNAngels, Tara has been a licensed cosmetologist since 2003 and currently works as a trainer and educator for a large national haircut franchise. When she isnβt solving cases, youβll likely find her at the barn with her beloved horse, Hope.
Since joining DNAngels, Tara has been a beacon of kindness, precision, and dedication. Her casework is thorough and compassionate, helping clients find their biological truth with care and accuracy. Recently, Tara took an even bigger leap by joining our Content Creation Team, where her natural storytelling abilities have flourished. She creates heartfelt YouTube videos that celebrate the powerful journeys of our clients, making our mission come alive for audiences across the globe.
Laura Olmsted, Founder and Executive Director of DNAngels, shares:
“I am so proud of Tara for her commitment to DNAngels. Not only is she kind, compassionate, and remarkably accurate with her client cases, but she has also embraced a new role on our Content Creation Team. Taraβs gift for storytelling draws viewers in immediatelyβher warmth and authenticity shine through every video she produces. She is an incredible asset to our organization, and we are so lucky to have her.”
Lorie Cousin, Team Lead and Executive Assistant, adds:
“Tara is one of our shining stars at DNAngels β not only stepping out of her comfort zone but soaring, by creating heartfelt and captivating YouTube videos that celebrate the lives we touch. Her storytelling magic and unwavering dedication are a huge part of why weβre able to do what we do!”
Tara, we are so grateful for your heart, your talent, and your unwavering commitment to helping others discover where they come from. Congratulations on being named Volunteer of the Monthβyou truly embody the spirit of DNAngels! π
