Volunteer of the Month: Celebrating the DNAngels Intake Team
For July 2024, DNAngels is thrilled to honor the entire Intake Team as the recipients of the Volunteer of the Month award. This exceptional team has shown unwavering dedication and compassion, making them an invaluable part of our organization. Led by the remarkable Tammy Ramos, the Intake Team is the first point of contact for new clients, ensuring a smooth and supportive journey as they begin their search for answers.
Tammy Ramos: The Heart of the Intake Team
Tammy Ramos, the leader of the Intake Team, hails from the beautiful state of Kentucky. Born in Hazard and raised in Beaver Dam, Tammy brings a wealth of experience and a warm, nurturing presence to her role. A mother of three and grandmother to three, Tammy is also a proud owner of three beautiful standard poodles. Her role at DNAngels goes beyond administration; she is the oil that keeps our wheels turning smoothly, ensuring that each client receives the care and attention they need.
Jessica Helms: A Journey of Giving Back
Jessica Helms, an Intake Specialist, joined DNAngels after her own experience as an NPE (Not Parent Expected). Born and raised in North Carolina, Jessica’s life took a surprising turn when she discovered two brothers and a sister she never knew she had. Her story, filled with emotional highs and lows, inspired her to give back to the organization that helped her. Jessica, a mother to an energetic 11-year-old and a caregiver to a 3-year-old rescue dog, has a deep love for outdoor activities and a passion for helping others. As a childcare center director for the past nine years, Jessica’s nurturing nature shines through in all she does, making her an invaluable member of the Intake Team.
Debra Stewart: A Passion for Truth and Family
Debra Stewart, or Deb, brings a rich tapestry of experiences to the Intake Team. A native of Wisconsin, Deb has also lived in Eastern Washington State and moved across the country during her time in the Army. Her journey with DNAngels began as a representative for her husband, and her love for family history and truth-seeking led her to become an Intake Specialist. Deb’s creative side shines in her jewelry-making hobby, particularly in crafting paper beads and wire-wrap jewelry. Married with a blended family of eight children and seven grandchildren, Deb’s life is full of love and dedication. She is a beacon of empathy and support for our clients, guiding them as they navigate their personal journeys.
Shelly Kelley: A Detective at Heart
Shelly Kelley, another esteemed member of the Intake Team, comes from the scenic state of West Virginia. Her journey with DNAngels began with a personal quest to uncover the biological roots of her adopted husband. Inspired by the support she received, Shelly decided to help others find their own truths. With over 30 years of experience as a stenographic court reporter, Shelly’s attention to detail is unparalleled. Her love for true crime TV shows and her crafty hobbies, including crossword puzzles and gardening, add depth to her character. Shelly’s life revolves around her family, including her daughter, two grandsons, and her beloved pets, Luna and Bailey.
Together, Tammy, Jessica, Debra, and Shelly form a dynamic team that embodies the spirit of DNAngels. Their dedication to helping others and their unique backgrounds and experiences make them an indispensable part of our organization. We are grateful for their hard work and compassion, and we celebrate them as the Volunteers of the Month for July 2024. Their contributions have made a lasting impact on the lives of our clients, and we are proud to have them as part of the DNAngels family.
