Melinda Figueroa is a Search Angel. She has been recognized as Volunteer of the Month twice
— first in May 2024 and again in January 2025 — reflecting her exceptional skills, commitment,
and passion for our mission. In October 2023, she completed the University of New Haven’s
graduate certificate program in forensic genetic genealogy, and followed that with the
Investigative Genetic Genealogy Certificate program at Ramapo College. Melinda is deeply
passionate about genetic genealogy and continually seeks to expand her knowledge in the field.
She began her journey with DNAngels as a researcher in Oct 2023 and has since earned her
wings as a Search Angel. Her compassion and intuitive “Angel thinking” have played a pivotal
role in solving cases and providing life-changing answers to those seeking them.

Holding a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a focus on Management Information
Systems, Melinda works as a Senior Software Development Manager. Outside of work, she
enjoys creating innovative web solutions and cherishing quality time with her daughter, Leah
