Kim Taylor

Kim is a Research Assistant. She grew up in Northwest Indiana and has a passion for foreign languages, having studied more than half a dozen. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics with a minor in Spanish from Indiana University and then joined the United States Navy as a Korean Linguist, earning an associate’s degree in Korean from the Defense Language Institute. Kim had always been interested in genealogy, sometimes calling up her grandparents to ask questions and take notes. One day, her husband suggested that they both take a 23andMe DNA test for fun. When the test results revealed a family secret, she got to work and solved the mystery using her DNA matches and publicly available information. She was then able to use what she learned to help some of her DNA matches connect with their biological families. She found it very rewarding to help others find their truths, but eventually ran out of people to help. So, she joined DNAngels as a Research Assistant and hopes to one day become a Search Angel and Genetic Genealogist. She also hopes that her foreign language skills will help her solve cases from all over the world. Kim currently lives in Georgia with her devoted husband, her five children whom she homeschools, and two orange tabbies named Scrabble and Yahtzee. She has a love of learning, which she tries to instill in her children, and is currently studying German and learning to play the guitar.
