Yarianni Diaz
Yarianni Díaz is a Research Assistant on the Puerto Rico Team. She was born and raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Her passion for genealogy was sparked by the groundbreaking identification of the “Golden State Killer” through genetic genealogy. Driven by curiosity and a desire to understand the science behind it, she pursued and completed the Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) program at the University of New Haven in December 2023. During her time in the program, Yarianni collaborated with the DNA Doe Project, where she recognized the critical need for Spanish-speaking professionals in the field. Shortly after graduating, she was invited by a fellow New Haven alum to join the Puerto Rican team at DNAngels. Since then, she has been dedicated to learning and supporting others as they uncover their identities and connect with their roots. Outside of research, Yarianni finds joy in photographing the sky and ensuring her pets live their happiest lives.
