Ashlee Krump – Research Team Lead and Search Angel

Ashlee is a Genetic Genealogist and the Research Team Lead. Ashlee is passionate about bringing families together. As a Genetic Genealogist, she helps individuals uncover their roots, reconnect with lost relatives, and piece together their unique family stories. Her journey into genetic genealogy began as a personal mission—to solve the mystery of her husband’s biological father. What started as a single DNA test quickly became a lifelong passion for solving family mysteries and strengthening connections.

Beyond her work in genetic genealogy, Ashlee is deeply committed to helping children find a sense of belonging. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children, she stands up for those in need, ensuring they have a voice in the system. With over 25 years of experience as a teacher, she has dedicated her life to education, guidance, and mentorship. This skill is regularly used in her position as the Research Team Lead where she has been tasked with the initial training of most of the DNAngels staff. She also volunteers at a rabbit rescue, extending her compassion to animals as well.

Family, in all its forms, is at the heart of everything Ashlee does. One of her most cherished accomplishments was serving as a surrogate, carrying two babies for close friends in Germany—an experience that reinforced her belief in the power of love and connection. At home, she shares her life with her husband, children, and a lively assortment of pets, making every day an adventure.

Ashlee’s work is driven by the belief that everyone deserves to know where they come from and to feel a sense of belonging. Through her expertise, dedication, and big heart, she continues to make a difference—one family at a time
