December’s Volunteer of the Month is Anique Coney! Anique is the Team Lead Intake Specialist with DNAngels. She is one of the first people that welcomes new clients and helps them begin their journey with DNAngels. Her friendly demeanor and compassionate nature immediately put people at ease. “She never complains and is a hard worker”, says Lisa Binz, DNAngels Project Manager. “She always takes time to acknowledge a client’s feelings” says Laura Olmsted. Anique’s name is a variant of the Russian “Annika” which means “gracious” and that describes her perfectly. She is quiet, but has a thoughtful word or gentle wisdom for those who listen closely.
Anique came to DNAngels first as a client, referred by a newly found cousin on her biological father’s side. She is an adoptee who had found her Mother previously and needed our assistance to identify her Biological Father. After her experience with DNAngels, she decided she wanted to give back to others by aiding their search and became a part of the DNAngels Intake Team.
Anique was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and now lives in Atlanta, Georgia. She has one son, who is in college. She loves to listen to music, nap, read and also works as a freelance writer and editor.
