May’s Volunteer of the Month is Intake Team Member Nickie Pavey! Nickie began as a DNAngels client. She and her twin sister, Tessa, are donor-conceived. When Nickie began her journey, she had no idea what she would identify or how receptive her donor-dad would be to identifing out he had not only twin daughters, but now a total of 9 donor children!
Lucky for Nickie, her father – and his lovely wife – have welcomed all of his children – and grandchildren with open arms! Her story is truly an inspiration for all donor conceived children. She decided she wanted to give back to DNAngels and became a member of the Intake Team and she also serves as one of the two coordinators of the Buddy
Program. “If I had to pick a favorite client story, it would be Nickie’s. Her story has turned into a genuine forever family for her and her donor. Nickie is an inspiration to our donor clients struggling to make contact and form a bond,” commented Laura Olmsted, DNAngels Founder and Executive Director.
Associate Director of Staffing, Aimee Rose Haynes says of Nickie, “she is a huge DNAngels cheerleader. She is all about making the screening process a positive experience for our clients and is always there for them if they have a question or comment. She is always kind, always involved in our client group by making or commenting on posts.” Assistant Team Lead, Kate Penney Howard says, “Nickie is amazing, she cares so much about everyone at DNAngels, her love for everyone is obvious. She always has something good to contribute and has a great sense of humor.”
“Nickie is one of the kindest, most genuine people you will ever meet. She has a real passion for helping others identify their truth. She is always willing to jump in and help wherever she is needed!” says Intake Team Lead Enjoli DeLeon. She has been involved in the committees for expanding paid services, and revamping the mission statement, and is a member of the team that writes the client stories for the newsletter and website. “She’s always willing to lend a hand, she exemplifies what it means to be a team player. She’s always there, with a smile on her face, when I need her,” says Kelly Grace, Associate Director of Administration.
Nickie lives on her family farm in Ohio with her sister, and her two nieces – who she calls Ro and Ren for short, and her adorable brand new nephew Spencer. She considers herself a true nerd – she loves Star Trek, Photography, animals, reading, the TV Show Glee, and being the George to Tessa’s Fred.
