DNAngels Announces 2022 Board of Directors
CARBONDALE, Ill. – DNAngels has announced its 2022-2023 Board of Directors: President Scott Horwitz, Secretary Kelly Grace Hickey, Advisor Christopher Smith, and Liaison to Angels and Intake Aimee Rose Haynes are all remaining in their positions. In January, Christine Mancinas filled the vacant Treasurer position, and in July, Dr. Nicole D. Price (author, motivational speaker, and NPE) was added as an advisor. “We’re excited to have Nicole join us,” says DNAngels Founder and Executive Director Laura Olmsted, “her story is very inspirational and she has incredible energy. I think she’ll bring some fresh perspective to the Board.”
DNAngels has also been without a Vice President of the Board since late April. In August, they extended an offer to renowned Genetic Genealogist and author Blaine Bettinger, who has accepted the position. “Having encountered MPEs and adoption in my own family and having helped numerous people discover and explore their genetic heritage over the years, joining DNAngels felt like a great way to be part of an incredible community of giving. I hope I am able to provide some amount of assistance, input, or expertise to this amazing organization,” says Bettinger, whose books are well-known and read in the genetic genealogy community.
“We are so pleased to have Genetic Genealogy pioneer Blaine Bettinger join the DNAngels Executive Board. Blaine literally wrote the book on what we do. He is an amazing addition to our team. His knowledge and insight will help us improve how we use every tool available with scientific accuracy to identify our client’s biological parents. We eagerly anticipate his leadership and input,” says Olmsted.
With the new Board of Directors in place, Olmsted anticipates that DNAngels will continue its mission to identify biological families for their clients while growing in new and exciting ways to impact the community.
