This August, DNAngels is proud to recognize two outstanding volunteers who have made significant contributions to our mission: Marta Rottweiler and Louise Cole.
Marta Rottweiler
Marta Rottweiler is a dedicated member of our long-term specialty team, working on the toughest cases that often take months to solve. Her Team Lead, Lorie Cousin, praises her as an exceptional researcher with an uncanny ability to uncover any piece of information she sets her sights on. Lorie likens Marta to a determined rottweiler, saying, “She won’t let go until she finds what she’s looking for.” What truly sets Marta apart is her willingness to share her methods with others, helping them learn from her techniques. Her approach not only brings answers but also fosters a collaborative environment where everyone benefits from her knowledge.
Marta’s dedication extends beyond her work with DNAngels. She is also committed to caring for her elderly parents, balancing her time and energy to support them with the same compassion she brings to her cases. Her relentless determination and kindness make her an invaluable asset to our team.
Marta was nominated by fellow volunteer Dee Sanchez, who shared her positive experience working with Marta. “Marta was my assigned researcher on a recent case, and she was a true joy to work with. She was extremely helpful, responded quickly, updated me on what she was working on so we were always on the same page, was proactive in looking for connections, and even found extra interesting tidbits like a newspaper article with a photo of the client’s grandparents. She is friendly, funny, and genuinely sweet. Marta is an incredible asset to the research team, and I know she has what it takes to be an amazing Angel if she chooses to be.”
Marta hails from Bethesda, Maryland, and has a background in forensic genetic genealogy, having studied at the University of New Haven.
Louise Cole
Louise Cole, based in London, has quickly made a significant impact on the UK cases she has worked on. Nominated by her Team Lead, Carolanne Murphy, Louise is praised for her meticulous attention to detail and exceptional tree work and research. Carolanne notes, “Louise has been instrumental in solving some UK on-hold cases in the short time she’s taken on the position. Her meticulous attention to detail and tree work/research has been instrumental in breaking the on-hold to solved barriers. Louise is a huge asset to the UK, and I’m sure our solves will increase with her skills.”
Louise’s work has been crucial in moving challenging cases forward, and her expertise is expected to lead to even more successful resolutions in the future.
Both Marta and Louise exemplify the dedication, skill, and compassion that define DNAngels. Their contributions have not only advanced our mission but have also inspired their colleagues. We are grateful to have them as part of our team and look forward to their continued success. Congratulations, Marta and Louise, on being our Volunteers of the Month!
