Honoring: Liza Ceballos
At DNAngels, we are proud to recognize those who go above and beyond in their dedication to our mission. For September 2025, we are thrilled to celebrate Liza Ceballos as our Volunteer of the Month. Remarkably, this is Liza’s third Volunteer of the Month recognition—each one earned in September since she joined us on March 10, 2023.
A Leader Who Inspires
This month, Liza stepped into a new leadership role as Case Manager Team Lead for the Angel Team, and she has taken on this responsibility with flawless execution. Her ability to meet challenges with grace, while maintaining her ongoing work as a Researcher, demonstrates her extraordinary commitment. “Liza is an incredible asset to our organization, and this month we are thrilled to recognize her as Volunteer of the Month,” says Lorie Cousin, Lead Genetic Genealogist and Assistant to the Executive Director. “She has stepped up to manage cases with dedication and grace, all while continuing her duties as a Researcher. Liza’s positive spirit shines through in everything she does—she encourages her fellow volunteers, always has something kind to say, and still finds time to juggle life at home with her twins.”
A Family Effort that Transformed DNAngels
Liza’s impact goes beyond her own contributions. In her new role, she shared her observations and challenges with her husband, Rick, a talented software programmer and security expert. Rick stepped in to help, creating an entirely new client management system that both modernized our processes and strengthened our security. This game-changing development reflects not only Rick’s expertise but also Liza’s generosity and vision in seeking ways to make DNAngels stronger.
A Lasting Legacy
Her unwavering dedication, elegant leadership, and spirit of teamwork have already left a lasting mark on DNAngels. As Laura Olmsted, Founder and Executive Director of DNAngels, says:
“When I think about the strength and dedication that keep DNAngels moving forward, Liza Ceballos immediately comes to mind. Since stepping into her role as Team Lead for the Angel Team, she has flawlessly executed her responsibilities and absorbed every challenge with grace. What makes Liza remarkable is not just her leadership but the way she approaches each day with a smile and elegance that inspires those around her. She shared her observations with her husband, Rick—a talented software programmer and security expert—and together they helped create an entirely new client management system that tightens our security and propels DNAngels into the 21st century. Liza’s vision, poise, and unwavering commitment have already left a lasting mark on this organization.”
We are deeply grateful for Liza’s service and for the example she sets for all of us at DNAngels. Her leadership continues to remind us what’s possible when dedication, kindness, and vision come together.
Congratulations, Liza, on being our Volunteer of the Month for September 2025—your third well-deserved recognition!
