DNAngels announces Merger with Discover Family

CARBONDALE, Ill. – DNAngels and Discovery Family – two non-profit organizations dedicated to assisting individuals searching for their biological families – announced that the two organizations would be merging.

“It just made sense” said DNAngels Executive Director, Laura Olmsted.  “Troy (Olson of Discover Family) has the ability to generate the interest from potential clients and we (DNAngels) have the ability to handle the volume”

The merger brings together the Carbondale, Illinois non-profit, formed in September 2019 and the newly formed Discover Family from Naples, Idaho.  Executive Director of Discover Family, Troy Olson, will take on the role of Vice President on the Board of Directors as well as Public Relations and Marketing Director.  He brings along with him his Search Angel, Jennifer Schweibinz, who has already proved to be an invaluable member of the DNAngels staff.  “Jennifer has hit the ground running, and fits right in with the DNAngels family”, says Olmsted.

The merger has already brought an influx of clients to DNAngels through Discover Family’s already established outreach. The combination of Olson’s digital marketing savvy and Olmsted’s crack team of search angels and genetic genealogy will allow the combined group to assist more clients searching for their biological families. Says Olson, “Helping those who are searching for birth parents is a life’s mission for myself. I’m most excited how this alignment will help us reach more of those who need help. Those who are suffering often in a very personal way to understand more about their origins.”
