At DNAngels, our mission thrives on the dedication and passion of our volunteers, and this year, we are honored to recognize Rachel Kiley Trout as our Volunteer of the Year. Rachel exemplifies the spirit of selflessness, commitment, and compassion that defines our organization.
A New England native, Rachel was born and raised in a Boston suburb with a family history as rich as it is complex. Her father, the youngest of 17 children born to Irish immigrants, and her mother, who grew up in foster care, shaped her deep connection to family roots and her desire to bridge the gaps in her own lineage. Rachel grew up without living grandparents, which left her longing for a tangible connection to her past—a void she filled by seeking out and cherishing relationships with elderly neighbors.
